Common questions
Donation FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions about giving. Full FAQ on the dedicated page.
›What payment methods can I use?
UPI (any UPI app), bank transfer (NEFT / IMPS / RTGS), or cheque. The Donate page shows a QR code, the UPI ID, and the bank account details. Pick whichever works for you.
›How do I scan the QR code?
Open any UPI app on your phone, tap "Scan & Pay", point at the QR on the Donate page. The recipient and (if you sponsored a specific component) the amount are pre-filled. Enter your UPI PIN to send.
›Why must I record my donation after paying?
The temple receives the money in the bank, but does not automatically know your name, email, or whether you want 80G receipt. The "Record my donation" form ties your transfer to your identity so we can verify it, add you to the donor wall, and send your receipt.
›What is the Transaction Reference?
It's a unique ID your bank or UPI app generates for each transfer. UPI calls it a "UPI Reference Number" or "Transaction ID" (12-digit). Banks call it a "UTR" for NEFT/IMPS (16-22 character). For cheques, write the cheque number.
›How long until I see my name on the donor wall?
Typically 24-48 hours after you submit the form. A trustee matches your form to the bank statement, marks the donation verified, and your name appears immediately after.
›Will I get an 80G tax exemption receipt?
Yes — the trust is registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Provide your full name and PAN in the form. After verification, the 80G receipt is emailed to you.
›Can I donate anonymously?
Yes. Tick "Don't show my name publicly" on the form. You'll be listed as "Anonymous Devotee" on the donor wall. The trust still holds your name internally for the 80G receipt and bank reconciliation.
›What is the photo upload for?
Optional — if you provide one, it appears next to your name on the public donor wall. Without it, your initials appear instead. JPG or PNG, up to 2 MB. Anonymous donors do not get a photo even if uploaded.
›How can I sponsor a specific component (kalasham, lamp, pillar)?
The "Sponsor a Component" section on the Donate page lists available items with their cost. Click "Sponsor this" — the form pre-fills with the exact amount, and the QR code regenerates encoding that amount.
›Is my payment secure? How do I know the QR is genuine?
The bank account, IFSC, UPI ID, and QR code are sourced from environment variables on the server — they cannot be edited from the admin panel. The QR is generated server-side from the same UPI ID, so no other image can be substituted.
›What if my payment fails or I sent the wrong amount?
UPI/bank failures are between you and your bank. If you sent the wrong amount, fill the form with the actual amount transferred; the trustee verifies against the bank statement. For corrections after submission, use the Contact page.
›Will I get a confirmation email?
Yes — if you provided an email, you'll receive an immediate acknowledgement, and a confirmation with the 80G receipt (if PAN was given) after a trustee verifies the donation. Check spam if you don't see it within 48 hours.
